    1. Your account

You must be 18 or over to create an account. Keep your login details secure and give accurate information. One person or business, one account. You confirm your age and accept these terms when you create an account.

    2. Our role

JewelleryTrader is an advertising platform. We are not a party to any sale or service booking arranged through the site, and we do not own, inspect or handle the jewellery advertised. Contracts are between buyer and seller.

    3. Listing rules

    • Advertise only jewellery you legally own or are authorised to sell.
    • Use accurate descriptions, real photographs of the actual piece, and correct hallmark and material details.
    • Comply with UK law, including hallmarking law under the Hallmarking Act 1973 — items sold as precious metal above the exemption weight must carry a valid UK hallmark.
    • No stolen items, no counterfeit or misrepresented branded pieces, no items without documentation where authenticity is claimed.
    • No misleading pricing or fake "reserve met" claims.
    • No duplicate adverts for the same piece and no advertising of services outside the directory.
    • Adverts describing a piece as hallmarked, certified or gemstone-set must be accurate and, where relevant, supported by a valid certificate.
    • Adverts run for 60 days and are then archived; you can relist at any time.

Jewellery Businesses are also covered by our business listing terms, which explain ranking, verification and notice periods.

3a. Category rules and legal declarations

Before an advert is published you must accept our posting declarations. These confirm you are the legal owner or authorised seller, that all photos are your own and of the actual piece, that handover happens in person or via tracked, insured delivery, and that you comply with all law that applies to you.

    • Gold and bullion: must carry a valid UK hallmark or recognised assay mark where required by weight; bullion must state purity and, where applicable, an assay certificate number.
    • Loose gemstones: must state whether natural, treated or lab-grown, and include a valid gemmological certificate where one is claimed.
    • Antique and vintage pieces: the period or era claimed must be accurate and supportable; do not describe a reproduction as antique.
    • Watches: the brand, model and movement must be accurately stated; serial numbers must not be misrepresented.
    • Silverware: claimed hallmarks and maker's marks must be genuine and legible in photographs.
    • Costume jewellery: must be clearly labelled as costume or fashion jewellery and not described as precious metal or genuine gemstone.

Anyone selling jewellery as a business, including three or more bundles of stock in 12 months, must hold any local authority or trading licence required for that activity and display relevant registration details. We may report false declarations to the relevant authority.

    4. Fees and payments

Advert fees and subscription prices are shown on the pricing page and are charged in GBP through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled from your dashboard. Advert fees are non-refundable once an advert has been published, except where required by law or where a technical fault prevented publication.

    5. Removal and suspension

We may edit, hide or remove any advert and suspend accounts that break these rules, without refund where the breach is serious or repeated.

    6. Content licence

You keep ownership of the photographs and text you upload, and grant us a licence to display and promote them on the site and in our marketing while your advert is live.

    7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from transactions between users, the authenticity or condition of any item, or the services of any listed business. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud caused by us.

Certificates, receipts, box and papers and other documents shown on an advert are supplied by the seller. We may screen them for obvious problems, but we do not physically inspect, authenticate or guarantee any item or document. Buyers should verify certificate numbers directly with the issuing laboratory and inspect the piece before paying. Sellers who upload forged or altered documents will be banned and may be reported to the police and Trading Standards.

    8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

    9. Complaints

Our complaints and dispute process, including response times and where to escalate, is set out on the complaints page.
